Malachite

Malachite is an opaque, bright green to dark black green banded, copper carbonate hydroxide mineral which often forms botryoidal, fibrous, or stalagmitic masses (Wikipedia). Malachite is said to form in fractures and deep underground spaces near the water table where hydrothermal fluids provide the means for chemical oxidation and crystallization in a monoclinic crystal system (Wikipedia).

A monoclinic crystal system, one of seven systems of crystallization, is defined as a crystal which is structured with vectors of unequal lengths (Wikipedia).

Metaphysical

Malachite is said to be the “stone of transformation,” with energies that are beneficial to the Heart chakra. Malachite is said to absorb negative energies and pollutants, both from the body and the nearby atmosphere (Eason).

Regarding pollutants, people sense that malachite absorbs plutonium and protects against radiation. It is also recognized that dust from Malachite is toxic thus this specimen should only be handled in its polished state.
