Canadian Hematite Chevron "auralite/auralite23" Amethyst Crystals!
Sourced from the Northern Boreal Forest in Ontario,Canada mainly by a father and son duo, this 1.2 Billion year old Canadian Chevron "Auralite/Auralite23" Hematite Amethyst Crystal is a tremendously rare, beautiful and enchanting crystal displaying various chevron patterns of Elestial, Phantom, Earth Spirit (Quartz covered Granite Speckle), Hematite, and Lemurian features and inclusions.
These Canadian Chevron Hematite Amethyst crystals contain structured layers of phantom and regular chevron patterns composed of three base Quartz species: Amethyst, Citrine, Smokey Quartz. In ultra-rare instances, the Hematite Amethyst contains a form of metastasized green quartz; sometimes referred to as "Prasiolite Amethyst" or "Emerald Green Amethyst".
This Amethyst is well known throughout the crystal and metaphysical community for the strength of its healing abilities, history, mineral composition, and by its trademarked name; "Auralite" or "Auralite 23". We may occasionally refer to the crystal as "Auralite" for reference and identification.
The "Auralite/Auralite23" Hematite Chevron Amethyst is correctly and also at times incorrectly referred to by many other names, including: “Canadian Super 7”, “Super 17”, “Aurolite”, “Auralite”, “Auroralite”, Auralite-23(tm)”, “Thunder Bay Chevron Amethyst”, "Chevron Amethyst", "Boreal Amethyst" and others.
A similar but different chevron amethyst crystal is the "Super 7" stone which has similar colors but is quite different from the "Auralite/Auralite23" Hematite Chevron Amethyst. Super 7 typically consists of a dim red, clear, or purple composition or capstone color. The pattern on the Super 7 amethyst generally contains 0 distinguishable layers (like a blended mixture) or up to 3 wide banded chevron layers. Alternatively, the chevron layers seen in the "Auralite/Auralite23" Hematite Chevron Amethyst have very distinguished, stacked banded layers that are consistent on nearly every crystal of its kind.
The Science:
Using x-ray diffraction, the minerals present as inclusions were studied via optical crystallography and include the following: Lepidocrocite, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Pyrite, Bornite, Chalcopyrite, Gold, Silver, Platinum, Uranopilite, Covellite, Sphalerite, Copper, Limonite, Pyrolusite, Adularia, Hematite, Epidote, Magnetite, Titanite and Rutile.
By assay, a total of 35 elements have been identified in various samples of Hematite Chevron "Auralite/Auralite23" amethysts, particularly: silver, gold, aluminum, barium, beryllium, bismuth, calcium, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, copper, iron, mercury, potassium, lanthanum, magnesium, manganese, molybdinum, sodium, nickel, phosphorus, palladium, lead, sulfur, antimony, scandium, strontium, thorium, titanium, thallium, uranium, vanadium, tungsten, zinc, and zirconium.
The Gemological Institute of America, which specializes in identifying inclusions in diamonds, held samples of these mined crystals for over two years. Their labs agreed with the findings of the assayers and felt the list was probably incomplete. They had never seen gold included in samples of amethyst before.
Further industry research reveals that this rare purple amethyst formation, featuring exquisite terminations and inclusions of precious metal elements, has only ever been located deep within the Northern forests and frozen tundra of the Canadian Shield.
A Sub-Atomic Experience:
The mineral combinations found within the "Auralite/Auralite23" are powerful resonators of earth energy. What sets these crystals apart from other "master healer" crystals are the intentional design of the crystals and the emplacement of the inclusions within the matrix of the amethyst. The overall effect of these relationships is a sensation of resonance that can only be experienced by directly handling the crystals.
By personal observation, It appears that the "Auralite" crystal displays the capture of shock-wave energy (events originating from above and below) in the form of its chevron structured layers. Thus imagine holding a snapshot of the energy of such a tremendous impact captured and recorded within the stone(Andrea Alexandra).
For instance, take the Sudbury Impact Structure as an example of a large shockwave event. According to NASA's Earth Observatory, the southeastern region of Ontario owes its unique geology to a powerful collision—initially thought to be an asteroid and later interpreted as a comet. The astronomical collision punctured Earth’s crust, allowing material from the mantle to seep up from below and fill the basin with melted rock. Subsequently, a shock-wave occurred which shattered the surrounding rocks and minerals from the melted rock below (NASA Earth Observatory, 2020).

Various sources can be found online validating that, while the mine is still open and producing valuable crystals, the most sought-after pieces were mined out over a decade ago and were mostly off market. A limited quantity of distributors has recently acquired the prime pick of the deposit of “high grade” export, purported to be mined in its prime between the years 2006-2010. Personal Auralite23 History from the Owner of Quantum Mineral
From childhood and throughout life I've kept a light rock collection which evolved into a growing crystal collection in my mid-twenties. I grew up in North Texas, collecting rocks and other interesting tidbits when outside. I had never been to a crystal store until I lived in Central Texas, which was when I found my first Quartz crystal necklace at the popular Natures Treasures.
During the era of increasing my crystal collection, I began to learn about crystal healing in addition to digesting various philosophical and esoteric literature which led me to seek the person who, from my teenage years, first introduced me to a new level of thought and being through his philosophy.
Through this re-connection came forth my first experience with "Auralite 23" since my high school teacher was also the geologist who worked with the mine owner back when the Cave of Wonders mine was first discovered.
Over time I learned a lot about his mountain climbing and mining expeditions as well as having my first exposure to geology lingo. He was generous and gave me many beautiful specimens of the auralite purple amethyst as well as quartz crystals. Without a doubt I am positive to say that as my collection of crystals increased, so did greater directing and manifesting of life and intention increased.
With his encouragement and my own entrepreneurial inclinations, eventually I started an Etsy shop in 2016 while not quite sure of what to expect with the platform since I had successfully used ebay for all e-commerce since 2005. In 2016, I sold two Auralite 23 specimens, while still learning what it meant to have a store on Etsy.
Family life and other responsibilities took my attention away from truly running an Etsy store, but the plan the universe had for me seemed to be just right. It was when I decided initate and complete a degree in Science in 2019 that I became educated in Physical and Historical Geology, which increased my understanding when it came to crystals and other natural minerals.
Ultimately, by mid-2018, I decided to begin growing the Etsy shop that I opened in 2016 in which the store has grown significantly since my I began sale of Oco Geodes and Agate Slices!
To make a long story come to end, it was through my connection with my cherished high school teacher/crystal mentor that allowed a collection of auralite, which was previously under the care of the late James David Rogers, to come into my life in order that I may continue his works and share these amazingly beautiful crystals around the world.
