Discovered in 2007 in an area north of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada, this Master healer Amethyst is revered as “A new stone of the new consciousness”, renowned for the strength of its healing abilities, geological history, and rare assortment and composition of minerals! Auralite/Auralite-23 crystals are a special variety of Canadian Chevron Amethysts which formed during the Mesoproterozoic era, an era that occurred 1,600 to 1,000 million years ago. The Mesoproterozoic era marked a period of the evolving development of continental plates and plate tectonics. The banded chevron layers present in the Auralite crystal’s composition represent evidence of a series of geological historical events, such as age rings found in trees. According to the original pioneers of the Auralite crystal, it is purported that meteoric impacts brought rare metallic ores to the surface of the Earth which resulted in dissolution and incorporation into the structure of developing Amethyst crystals, which is now called Auralite.

The chevron structures displayed in the Auralite crystal are generally composed of three base Quartz species: Amethyst, Citrine, and Smokey Quartz. Recently, it has been discovered that the Auralite Chevron Amethyst may at times contain deposits of metastasized green quartz; referred to as "Prasiolite Amethyst" or "Emerald Green Amethyst". In even rarer instances, the Auralite crystal may host a distinct combination of Amethyst and Citrine minerals, refered to as “Ametrine”.

Auralite Chevron Amethysts come in various shapes and sizes, each with their own unique features and patterns. The main types of Auralite consists of Amethyst with prominent bands of chevron layers and rarer Amethysts featuring variations of Hematite compositions, with the remainder of the crystal featuring distinguished banded Chevron Layers.

The rarest variety of the Auralite-23 crystal feature formations of oxidized hematite incorporated into the capstone of the crystal. Hematite is the complete oxidized product of Magnetite. Magnetite is black or brownish black with a metallic luster and is the most magnetic of all the naturally occurring minerals on Earth. Naturally magnetized pieces of magnetite are called lodestone, which is how ancient peoples first discovered the property of magnetism as they observed that the mineral was strong enough to attract small pieces of iron.

Hematite derives its name from the Greek word “haimatite” meaning “blood-like”, which refers to the mineral’s distinct bright red to dark-red colors. According to research, Hematite is one of the most widely occurring iron oxides on Earth, Mars, and various celestial bodies in the solar system.
The Auralite Chevron Amethyst is often referred to as Auralite-23 due to the distinct 23 mineral composition found within the crystal. Each Auralite specimen has its own unique formations and patterns and will not contain the exact same variety of minerals.

Using x-ray diffraction, the minerals present as inclusions in the Auralite Chevron Stone were studied via optical crystallography and include the following: Lepidocrocite, Cacoxenite, Goethite, Pyrite, Bornite, Chalcopyrite, Gold, Silver, Platinum, Uranopilite, Covellite, Sphalerite, Copper, Limonite, Pyrolusite, Adularia, Hematite, Epidote, Magnetite, Titanite and Rutile.

By assay, a total of 35 elements have been identified in various samples of the Chevron "Auralite/Auralite23" amethysts, particularly: silver, gold, aluminum, barium, beryllium, bismuth, calcium, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, copper, iron, mercury, potassium, lanthanum, magnesium, manganese, molybdinum, sodium, nickel, phosphorus, palladium, lead, sulfur, antimony, scandium, strontium, thorium, titanium, thallium, uranium, vanadium, tungsten, zinc, and zirconium.

Please note: The "Auralite/Auralite23" Chevron Amethyst is variously referred to by many names, including: “Canadian Super 7”, “Super 17”, “Aurolite”, “Auralite”, “Auroralite”, Auralite-23(tm)”, “Thunder Bay Chevron Amethyst”, “Kindred Spirit Crystal”, "Chevron Amethyst", "Boreal Amethyst" and others.

Research validates that, while the mine is still open and producing valuable crystals, the most sought-after pieces were mined out over a decade ago and were mostly off market.

A limited number of distributors recently acquired the prime pick of the deposit of the high-grade export, purported to be mined in its prime between the years 2006-2010.
